Injecting a chemical damp proof course into the mortar course of a brick wall

Services

Damp proofing in North Shields and North Tyneside

Rising damp, chemical DPC injection, tanking and salt resistant replastering.

What it is

Understanding damp proofing

Rising damp is groundwater drawn up through the base of a wall because the original damp proof course has failed or was never there. We confirm the cause with moisture readings first, then install a new chemical damp proof course, a thin barrier injected into the mortar, and replaster with a salt resistant system so old salts cannot come back through the finish.

Carried out to BS 6576

  • A long wall fitted with tanking membrane and plugs after rising damp treatment
  • Tanking membrane fixed to corner walls with sealed plugs before replastering

What you might notice

Signs that bring people to us

  • A tidemark rising up the wall from the skirting

  • White salt deposits on the wall surface
  • Skirting boards and floorboards decaying at the edges
